"More Guns Means Less Crime"

"In the new third edition of More Guns, Less Crime, available from the University of Chicago Press, economist John R. Lott, Jr., easily dispels any lingering doubt that allowing citizens to carry concealed handguns is strongly associated with -- if not a direct cause of -- lowering the rates of violent crime."

Procrastinator Extraordinaire!

I need to return to one of the original reasons I started this Blog -- it was a 21st century method of putting my thoughts down on paper (electronic paper). It seemed to give them the essence of something tangible --something I could study. And, it kept me focused.

When I write down projects and tasks on an actual "To Do List" it makes a BIG difference whether or not things get accomplished. Conversely, when a "To Do List" exists only in my mind, days, and even weeks, could often pass without results. My wife would say the "real" time frame was much longer -- months and years, perhaps even decades, would pass before a task was completely finished. She's right. I am a procrastinator extraordinaire! Imagine -- Decades passing without closure! But wait? That may be my problem!

Some folks do not think procrastination is a Virtue (my wife for one). I obviously do -- or did, or do. I know, I know; I can hear some of you thinking: "that poor woman." Actually, I'm kidding -- a little. But, my dad taught me if something was worth doing it was worth doing right. I was naturally good at Procrastinating, so it made perfect sense to raise it to an art form.

This is GREAT!. I think I've gotten to the root of a life long problem. Procrastination is NOT a Virtue; it's a Vice! Now, how do I change my habit of Procrastinating to something positive? First, what's the antitheses of Procrastination? I don't know, and I am getting a little sleepy.

I'll tackle Procrastination Tomorrow -- along with focus.

Moving IN moving Out

Well, the focus has changed from getting the old house ready to sell to getting the new house ready to move in.

The pet smells in the new house were worse than we remembered, so we tore the carpeting out of all three bedrooms. Now we are also repainting them before we move in. The Rec room floor needed to be sealed to cover the pet smells in the tile that bleach and cleaning solutions didn't remove. Zinsser BIN works great for this, but is it potent. All of this has totally derailed work on the old place.

"Socialism's Last Stand"

"If you like poverty, inefficiency, and bureaucratic controls over the economy, and therefore control over your choices, the "climate change" movement is ideal."

It's Not Just That Global Warming Is Fake. What Matters Is Why This Fakery Is Being Promoted.

A lot of work and saving pays off BIG.

My wife and I have spent most summer weekends for the past 6 years looking for a house and property in the country that we both loved. This is it! We close the deal on July 23rd and take possession August 2nd.

I'm looking forward to mowing 3 or so of the 10 acres on or about 08/03/09, and Mama C. is... well, I'll talk about that another time. Check Other Photos for additional pictures.

There's an attitude for all seasons

My wife and I are reaching for a a long held dream, even though we're both in the Autumn of our years.

Some might say, "you really should be thinking Winter"; our attitudes, however, tell us it's still Autumn.

We're in the market for a house in the country (with acreage) to make our home -- most likely our last, in this life. The search and the weighing of some seemingly imponderable considerations have brought me closer to my Higher Power (which I call God) and other metaphysical thoughts.

This being one of them:

nodding reflections

rippled on the pond of time --

eternal glimmer
