Wow, this woman is fabulous ! She hits most of the "highlights" like the fact that Muhammad is considered by Islam to have lived the "perfect life" and every Muslim is obligated to try to emulate that supposedly perfect life. So, if that perfect life contained all those things she mentioned, and it did according to their own holy scriptures which this woman named, then it becomes readily apparent why some Muslims perform acts which horrify the rest of us but which the perpetrators of those acts offer up to the glory of Allah. The woman in the video mentions the fact that Muhammad had a wife who was only 9 years old. Her name was Aisha and actually they were married when Aisha was only 6, but the marriage was not "consummated" until Aisha reached the age of 9. One thing the woman in the video did not mention was the apparent conflict in the Koran between the peaceful verses which are so often mentioned by the apologists for Islam and the violent or war-like verses which are cited as justification by the jihadists. There is a long explanation for this and it basically comes down to a concept in Islam called "abrogation" which basically means that the more recently written verse cancels out a verse written in an earlier time if the two verses are in conflict. Well, as the woman in the video pointed out, when Muhammad first started trying to assemble followers in Mecca, he was basically a flop with very few recruits so he had to go along to get along at that time. The Koranic verses written about this period of his life are peaceful because Muhammad had very few followers and therefore no power. After Muhammad went to Medina, he eventually acquired numerous followers and the power he had long been seeking in the form of his own army. From this point forward, the Koranic verses become very intolerant and violent, and because of the concept in Islam of abrogation, these violent verses take precedence over any earlier peaceful verses if there is a conflict between the two.
OK, I've rambled on for far too long here, but this is a very important video made by a very brave and intelligent woman. She is a hero !
Good luck on your blog, Dave. I tried this once several years ago and was as big a flop as Muhammad was in Mecca ! I hope you do much better.
